Where the Living Room Tells a Story
Neo-classic living is not a trend. It is a way of thinking about home — where carved wood, quiet elegance, and genuine craftsmanship come together to make a space feel like it has always been yours.
Some rooms you walk into and immediately feel something. This is the kind we make.
We are based in Saharanpur — a city in northern India that has been shaping wood for centuries. The craftsmen here did not learn their trade from a manual. It passed from father to son, from hand to hand, through decades of quiet practice. When you place one of our pieces in your home, that history comes with it.
Neo-classic living furniture, the way we interpret it, draws from French salon traditions, Italian palace interiors, and Victorian drawing rooms — but it never feels like a museum piece. There is a warmth to the wood, a humanity in the carving, that keeps it from feeling cold or out of place in a modern home.
"We do not mass-produce furniture. Each neo classic sofa set leaves our workshop having passed through at least eleven pairs of hands. That is not inefficiency — that is the point."-Royalzig Luxury Furniture, Saharanpur
What Goes Into a Neo Classic Sofa Set
It starts with the wood. We work primarily with solid sheesham and teak, both chosen for how they behave over decades, not just years. The grain patterns are never hidden — they become part of the design. A neo classic sofa frame, before the upholstery even begins, is already a finished work of art in itself.
The carving is done by hand. There is no shortcut here. A single floral motif on an armrest can take a skilled craftsman the better part of a day to complete. We use small chisels, patience, and a lot of rework. If something does not look right, it does not leave the table.
The fabrics we use — velvet, brocade, damask — are selected to complement the wood without overpowering it. The colours tend toward dusty rose, deep Prussian blue, antique ivory, and forest green. They age beautifully.
- Solid sheesham and teak frames, kiln-dried for stability
- Hand-chisel carving on all exposed wood surfaces
- High-density foam with spring suspension seating

- Gold-leaf and antique finish options available
How Neo-Classic Living Feels Different in a Real Home
The word "classic" gets used loosely. What we mean, specifically, is furniture that references the European decorative traditions of the 17th to 19th centuries — but without the stiffness. A neo-classic living room should feel collected, not decorated. Like things were chosen for love, not matched from a catalogue.
The French Influence
French-style neo-classic living furniture tends to feature cabriole legs — that gentle S-curve that gives a sofa or side table a sense of lightness despite its solid construction. Our French-inspired pieces carry carved rose and acanthus leaf motifs, gilt highlights, and a general softness of line that works well in rooms with high ceilings or large windows.
The Italian Grandeur
Italian-inspired pieces in our neo classic sofa collection are a bit more architectural. The proportions are bolder. The carving is deeper. An Italian baroque sofa set in a living room does not ask for attention — it commands the space quietly, and everything else in the room organizes itself around it.
The Victorian Grounding
Victorian-influenced neo-classic living furniture tends to be the most liveable of the three. Deeper cushions, broader armrests, firmer upholstery. It is the style that ages best with a family that actually uses its furniture rather than preserving it.
Where the Materials Come From — and Why It Matters
We are particular about sourcing. The finish on a piece of neo-classic living furniture is only as good as what it starts with.
Sheesham Wood
Indian rosewood. Naturally resistant to warping, beautiful grain, and rich in natural oils that keep it looking good without heavy maintenance.
Solid Teak
Dense, durable, and exceptional for fine carving. Teak holds detail well, which is why we use it for pieces with intricate surface work.
Velvet & Brocade
Upholstery fabrics sourced for both appearance and longevity. Velvet for softness, brocade for texture and visual richness.
Gold Leaf Finish
Applied by hand on select carvings and frame details. Subtle when done well, it catches light in a way that painted gold simply cannot replicate.
Antique Patina
A hand-rubbed finish that gives new wood the visual depth of a century-old piece. Each application is different — no two finishes are identical.
Spring Suspension
Eight-way hand-tied spring systems in our neo-classic sofa sets. It is an old technique, slower to build, but it is why these pieces last for decades.
Neo-classic Living – Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is neo-classic living furniture, and how is it different from regular classic furniture?
Classic furniture tends to be a direct reproduction of historical styles — strict proportions, heavy ornamentation, and often quite formal. Neo-classic living furniture takes those same design traditions and reinterprets them for modern homes. The carving details are still there, the quality of wood is still there, but the proportions tend to be a little more liveable, the upholstery a little more comfortable, and the overall feeling is more of an heirloom than a period piece. It fits into contemporary interiors without looking out of place.
How long does it take to receive a neo classic sofa set after placing an order?
Most orders take between six and ten weeks from confirmation to delivery, depending on the complexity of the carving and the fabric chosen. Pieces with gold-leaf detailing or multi-tone antique finishes take a little longer. We share a production schedule with every customer at the time of order, and we do not rush the workshop — that is not a promise we are willing to break. For urgent timelines, please reach out and we will tell you honestly what is achievable.
Can I customize the fabric and wood finish on a neo classic sofa?
Yes, and we encourage it. The neo classic sofa frames we produce can be finished in several wood tones — natural sheesham, walnut stain, antique ivory, and various gold-highlighted options. Fabric choices span velvet, brocade, damask, and select linen blends across a range of colors. If you have something specific in mind — perhaps a color to match an existing rug or curtain — send us a reference image or swatch, and we will do our best to work with it or source something close.
Do you deliver neo-classic living furniture internationally?
We do. Our pieces have been delivered to homes in the UK, UAE, USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and across Europe. International shipments are packed in custom wooden crates with corner protection and humidity-resistant wrapping. We work with freight partners who specialize in fragile and high-value items, and we arrange white-glove delivery in most major cities. Shipping timelines and costs vary by destination — we provide a full breakdown before any order is confirmed.
How do I care for a hand-carved neo-classic living furniture piece over time?
The wood requires very little. A soft dry cloth for dusting and a light application of furniture wax or wood conditioner two or three times a year is usually enough. Avoid placing pieces in direct sunlight for long periods and keep them away from air-conditioning vents — both cause wood to dry and crack over time. The upholstery should be vacuumed gently with a soft brush attachment monthly. For velvet, always brush in the direction of the pile. If you ever notice a carved section that needs attention, please contact us — we offer a restoration and touch-up service.
Is it possible to see Royalzig neo-classic living furniture before purchasing?
We have a showroom in Saharanpur where you can see pieces in progress and completed items from current collections. If you are visiting from outside the city, please arrange your visit in advance so we can ensure the right team is available to walk you through the workshop and explain the process in person. For customers who cannot travel to Saharanpur, we provide detailed video walkthroughs of specific pieces on request, along with fabric and wood finish samples sent by post.
